As the Storage market embraces SSD and flash there is the constant question of how long will it take for SSDs to replace hard disk drives.  There are a lot of opinions about when folks will be all flash in the data center and most of those opinions are based on conjecture rather than fact.

Starboard Storage launched on February the 13^th, 2012 at the VMware Partner Exchange in Las Vegas. With Starboard now a year old I thought it would be a good time to briefly reflect on what has been accomplished in our first year and a little bit about what is to come.

The availability of solid state storage has fueled new storage platforms. One thing I am constantly asked is ‘what is the best way to implement solid state in networked storage platforms?’  Since I work for a vendor that uses solid state as cache, I clearly have a bias, but then so does every other vendor.  Someone has to be right about what will be the pre-dominate use case and here is why I believe that it will be unified hybrid storage.

After spending more than 20 years in the IT support community, customer service is my passion and my expertise.  Over the last several years, technology has changed the way we communicate, and, in return, the way we support technology must change.  In my first blog for Starboard Storage I take a look at the changing face of the It customer base and how that is impacting support practices.
